With the bases loaded and one out in the bottom of the eighth inning, Chris Davis swung at the first pitch from Twins reliever Tyler Robertson and hit a grand slam to give the Orioles a 9-5 lead.

Davis reached out and lifted the ball over the fence in left field, and Camden Yards erupted. He came out for a curtain call after Robertson’s first pitch to Matt Wieters.

Davis is the fourth player in major league history to homer in the first four games…This has gotten ridiculous. And historic.

Davis is the fourth player in major league history to homer in the first four games of a season, joining Willie Mays, Mark McGwire and Nelson Cruz. He’s hit 11 homers in his last 11 games.

This is Davis’ second career grand slam, the other coming July 31, 2012 off the Yankees’ Ivan Nova.

Davis upped his RBI total to 16. He also has a sacrifice fly and a single today.

No word on whether he cured a disease before taking the field for the top of the ninth.

Adam Jones singled with the bases loaded to tie the game after Casey Fien issued an intentional walk to Nick Markakis with first base open and one out. Manny Machado had laid down a sacrifice bunt following singles by Nolan Reimold and Nate McLouth.
