With seven more victories, the Orioles can secure their first winning September since 2004 (18-10). They’ve already won more games in September than they did last year (six) and 2008 (five).
The three Yankees starters in this series, A.J. Burnett, CC Sabathia and Andy Pettitte are a combined 54-12 against the Orioles.
Adam Jones has the Orioles’ highest RBI total against the Yankees this season with eight, but he’s batting .216. Meanwhile, Robinson Cano is batting .441 with four homers and nine RBIs against the Orioles.
Cano is hitting .625 with three homers at Camden Yards, leaving his career average at .370.
Brian Roberts is batting .303 since Showalter arrived. Matt Wieters is second at .296, followed by Felix Pie at .291, Nick Markakis at .289 and Adam Jones at .270. Luke Scott leads in home runs (eight) and RBIs (23).
Also since Showalter arrived: Jeremy Guthrie is 6-2 with a 2.64 ERA, Brian Matusz is 5-1 with a 2.66 ERA, Brad Bergesen is 4-1 with a 2.37 and Jake Arrieta is 3-3 with a 3.78 ERA.
