Diamondbacks executive Jerry Dipoto reportedly will become the next general manager of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
Hopefully, his first order of business will be to shorten the team’s name.

SI.com’s Jon Heyman followed that tweet with a confirmation of his own. Heyman also is hearing that Tony LaCava is “very likely” to be named the Orioles’ president of baseball operations, which would make sense. Dipoto and LaCava have been widely viewed as the two leading candidates.
The news on Dipoto breaks as the Orioles are interviewing director of player development John Stockstill for the position. Stockstill is the fourth candidate to meet with the search committee, and the first from within the organization.
Dodgers executive De Jon Watson also has been interviewed, following Dipoto and LaCava. Watson flew into Baltimore Tuesday night.
Here’s a little refresher on LaCava, just in case.
