Duchscherer had his debut delayed last week by a sore left hip, but he’s ready to take the ball tomorrow.

“I threw BP the other day and it felt good,” he said. “I’m excited. It’s been a while. It’s been almost a year since I pitched in the bigs. It’s exciting for me. Duchscherer had his debut delayed last week by a sore left hip, but he’s ready to take the ball tomorrow.

“I threw BP the other day and it felt good,” he said. “I’m excited. It’s been a while. It’s been almost a year since I pitched in the bigs. It’s exciting for me. I just hope I can go out there and feel good physically. That’s my biggest concern. I don’t worry about stuff-wise or results-wise. It’s all about hoping my body feels good.”

Matusz’s left middle finger is responding properly to Friday’s laser surgery to remove a wart.

“I’m ready to go. I should be fine. It’s feeling good,” he said.

“It’s blistering up a little bit to where the wart is definitely irritated and infected and probably is going to fall off soon. That’s what you want it to do. That’s the whole idea with a laser, to do its thing, irritate the wart and cause it to turn black in a couple days and cause it to rub off and go away.

“It’s fine. It’s on the side of my finger, so it’s really not bothering me. I’ll play catch today and it should be fine. I’m not seeing any issues for tomorrow. I’m on schedule.”

Over in Fort Myers, Jason Berken was charged with a run and two hits, with one walk, in one inning. He tossed a scoreless fourth, but left after facing one batter in the fifth, and that runner scored with Nick Bierbrodt on the mound.

The Orioles trail the Red Sox, 4-3, in the seventh inning. Robert Andino has two RBIs, one coming on a bases-loaded walk. Cesar Izturis is 2-for-3 with an RBI. Jake Fox is 1-for-3 with a double.

Instant update: Nolan Reimold’s second hit of the day, a double in the seventh inning, scored Izturis and tied the game, 4-4.

Update: Josh Bell tripled in the eighth and scored on Brendan Harris’ sacrifice fly. Orioles 5, Red Sox 4. Chorye Spoone is pitching.

Another update: The Red Sox tied the game in the bottom of the eighth with a single and errors by Spoone and shortstop Bobby Stevens.
