This means the Orioles signed all their picks over the first 11 rounds of the draft as today they got second-round pick Jason Esposito and sixth-rounder Nicky Delmonico. This is the first time the Orioles signed all the picks in the first 11 rounds since 2005, Joe Jordan’s first season as scouting director.
The Orioles signed 22 total draft picks, getting four in the last 24 hours counting 26th-round pick, high school pitcher Zach Davies.
Bundy is an 18-year-old right-hander and pitched at Owasso (Okla.) High School, where this season he went 11-0 with an ERA of 0.20. In 71 innings, he walked just five batters with 158 strikeouts.
Bundy’s fastball, according to scouting reports, sat between 94-97 this season and several times he touched 100 mph. Bundy also features a curve, changeup and cut fastball. The fastball, curve and cutter are already considered plus pitches.
Bundy, who will turn 19 on Nov. 15, goes 6-feet-1 and 205 lbs. His makeup and work ethic are considered off the charts good.
He was named the Gatorade National High School Player of the Year.
