I’m told that Roberts called into The Scott Garceau Show today on MASN and talked about how he’s dealing with some inflammation in his back that’s causing the discomfort.

Jeremy Guthrie remains scheduled to start tomorrow night against the Mets, and Samuel referred to his rotation as being “very much set with Guthrie feeling good.” Brad Bergesen stays in the bullpen.

Jake Arrieta doesn’t look the least bit nervous as he chats with teammates and walks through the clubhouse.

“I just saw him come into my office all calm,” Samuel said.

Pitchers took batting practice earlier today in preparation for next week’s interleague trips to San Francisco and San Diego. Guthrie hit the left field foul pole and suggested that I could blog about it if I needed another topic.

Done and done.

Infielders took ground balls before batting practice, and catchers Matt Wieters and Craig Tatum worked on blocking balls in the dirt. Scott Moore worked on turning the double play at second.

Single-A Frederick shortstop Greg Miclat and right fielder Ronnie Welty have been named to the Carolina League All-Star Team.

Miclat, a fifth-round pick in the 2008 draft out of Virginia, has endured two stints on the disabled list (broken nose and sprained foot) and leads all shortstops in batting with a .313 average. He also hit his first professional home run last night.

Welty was chosen as the Orioles’ minor league Player of the Month for April, and he leads the Keys with nine home runs this season. He was selected in the 20th round of the 2008 draft out of Chandler-Gilbert Community College.
