USA Today’s Bob Nightengale reported earlier today that free agent first baseman Prince Fielder and agent Scott Boras are in Dallas to visit with the Texas Rangers.

The Rangers are viewed as one of those teams that’s been lying in the weeds, waiting for Fielder to lower his demands before swooping in and signing him. It would be a nice counter-punch to the Angels signing Albert Pujols.
However, the Rangers also need to come up with enough money to pay Yu Darvish – their counter-punch for the Angels signing C.J. Wilson.
Fielder and Boras also could end up visiting the Marlins, who are spending money like a drunk in a bar.
