This offseason, O’s fan can follow a few of their favorite Birds on the European Big League Tour.
Orioles reliever Rick VandenHurk and teammates Adam Jones and Jeremy Guthrie will be participating in the tour, along with other MLB players and coaches who are traveling through Europe this winter to bring a love of baseball to Rotterdam, Amsterdam, Eindhoven, and Antwerp.

VandenHurk will be blogging about his travels for MLB.com, and he’s already posted a few entries. According to his blog, VandenHurk says the group spent the first night of their trip in Amsterdam at a VIP Dinner and Auction for Kiki (Kids Cancer Free).
VandenHurk also notes that Jeremy Guthrie made an appearance on stage at the dinner with “Holland’s Best Rapper Ali B”!
In another post, “Vandy” fills fans in on the group’s first stop in Eindhoven, the O’s reliever’s hometown in Holland.
Introductions; Q&A’s; pitching, fielding and hitting clinics; and an autograph session filled the first day for 300 kids in Eindhoven, and VandenHurk even mentions former Oriole Brady Anderson was in attendance as well.
And finally on the first day, “After the clinic we had some Dutch foods for the guys, some Bitterballen en Appelflappen en stroppwafels for our trip back to Amsterdam. I think they all liked it, at least I hope so! Lol,” VandenHurk said in his blog.
I’ll be checking in on VandenHurk’s blog throughout their trip and providing updates here, or you can follow the tour’s progress for yourself at vandenhurk.mlblogs.com.
