Does Juan Samuel have any advice for Rodriguez?
“Maybe I need some myself, instead of giving some of those guys advice,” he said, grinning.
“I’m trying to do what I can here with my club to get them going, and I’m sure he’s going to do the same.”
Fredi Gonzalez’s firing hit close to home for Samuel, since he took charge of the Orioles following Dave Trembley’s dismissal.
“You don’t want to see people lose their job,” he said. “You feel it. This is my first shot at this. I kind of had a taste of it with Dave, a guy that we all liked. It’s just sad to see people lose their job, but it’s part of the game. They say you’re fired the day you’re hired, and it’s been going on way before we came into this sport, so we just have to focus on what we’re doing, and hopefully Fredi will bounce back.”
