Game 142 lineups: Nats vs. Phillies
By The Nationals can't clinch the division title tonight, but they can get as close as possible without finishing the deal. With the magic number now at three, a Nats win over the Phillies combined with a Marlins loss at Atlanta would set the stage for them to control their own destiny Sunday afternoon and not have to worry about the result of another game. That's always a preferable scenario.
Tonight, it'll be Edwin Jackson looking to bounce back from a rare rough start. The veteran was tagged for five runs in 5 2/3 innings in Milwaukee, one of only two times in nine starts this season he has allowed more than three earned runs.
Jackson will be working with a new batterymate, with Raudy Read getting his first career major league start behind the plate. The 23-year-old has taken four at-bats since his call-up (going 2-for-4) but he has played only one inning in the field thus far, so we'll get a good look at his catching skills this evening.
