Gausman threw an inning in relief Tuesday and struck out two batters in the Orioles’ loss to the Mets. On the season, the right-hander has registered a 4.50 ERA in eight games spanning 12 innings. He’s allowed six earned runs on 11 hits and has 13 strikeouts.
Fortunately for the young pitcher, he could be ready to pitch at Triple-A Norfolk before his time on the disabled list is up, but the team will use caution moving forward.
On a related note, pitcher T.J. McFarland was scratched from his start at Triple-A Norfolk and is headed to New York to join the team. Chris Jones is starting for the Tides.
McFarland will replace Gausman on the active roster if his flight arrives on time. Otherwise, infielder Rey Navarro will remain on the active roster.
