Here’s what’s on deck this week:
Thursday, Dec. 25, 9 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 6 p.m.: Our Christmas present for you is an opportunity to watch the Orioles’ playoff sweep of the Tigers. First, in Game 1, the Orioles exploded for 12 runs, including home runs from J.J. Hardy and Nelson Cruz, to win 12-3. Next, in Game 2, the Birds battled back in the bottom of the eighth to overtake the Tigers. Delmon Young’s bases-clearing double proved to be the difference as the O’s won 7-6. Finally, the Orioles completed their ALDS sweep of the Tigers with a 2-1 win in Game 3. Bud Norris pitched into the seventh inning and outdueled David Price to help the O’s secure a spot in the American League Championship Series. Cruz’s two-run homer was the only offense the Birds needed.
Friday, Dec. 26, 7 p.m.: After viewing three consecutive games the previous day, it might be a little understandable if you’re feeling a void without the Orioles. Well to cure your blues, we have a game from Aug. 25 when the Birds hit five home runs in a 9-1 win over the Rays. The offensive outburst ended a three-game losing streak. Nick Markakis, Cruz, Young, Hardy and Chris Davis all homered.
