Orioles fans have a lot to be thankful for, including an American League East title and a an appearance in the American League Championship Series. Birds fans can also be thankful for five “Orioles Classics” airing this week on MASN HD.
This week’s lineup kicks off with everyone’s favorite holiday from this past season, “Clinchmas.” We will also feature Eddie Murray’s 500th home run game as well as Manny Machado’s first homer.
Here’s what’s on-deck this week:
Monday, Nov. 24, 7 p.m.: Relive the magic of “Clinchmas” with the O’s American League East-clinching game against the Blue Jays from Sept. 16. This marked the first time the Birds clinched the division since 1997.
Tuesday, Nov. 25, noon: Orioles legend and Hall of Famer Murray joined the 500-homer club on Sept. 6, 1996. Murray connected off of Tigers pitcher Felipe Lira. The Orioles won the game 5-4.
Thursday, Nov. 27, 11:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.: Be thankful for two opportunities to watch the Orioles today. First, don’t miss Mike Devereaux’s disputed walk-off homer in the bottom of the ninth to beat the Angels on July 15, 1989, a blast that touched off an O’s celebration and a Halos meltdown. Then at 6:30 p.m., catch the Birds’ 10-6 win over the Yankees on Sept. 6, 2012 – the night the Orioles unveiled a statue of Cal Ripken Jr. in Legends Park and moved into a first-place tie atop the AL East.
Friday, Nov. 28, 12:30 p.m.: Machado took Baltimore by storm during the 2012 season. The rookie third baseman hit his first and second career home runs on the same night on Aug. 10, 2012. Both of Machado’s home runs came off of Royals starter Luke Hochevar. The Orioles defeated the Royals 7-1.
