masn-baseballs-orioles.jpgStruggling reliever Mike Gonzalez just did a very nice job in the last of the sixth as the Orioles were able to hold onto a lead tonight in their game at Chicago. The O’s are up 2-1 in the seventh.

Gonzalez came on for starter Chris Tillman with the bases loaded and none out in the sixth. He got Adam Dunn looking and then Alex Rios hit a fly ball to medium center field. Adam Jones made the catch and a nice one-hop throw home, but Jake Fox could not hang on to the throw and a run…Struggling reliever Mike Gonzalez just did a very nice job in the last of the sixth as the Orioles were able to hold onto a lead tonight in their game at Chicago. Gonzalez then struck out A.J Pierzynski swinging at a 1-2 pitch as the O’s kept the lead and Gonzo had maybe his best inning of the year.

So Tillman finished allowing one run and six hits over five innings.

Robert Andino homered to help the offense and made a diving stop in the last of the fourth to lead the defense.

In the third, Andino homered to left for a 2-0 Orioles’ lead. After he had three hits last night, that made Andino 4-for-5 in this series at that point. Brian Roberts led off the game with a double off Philip Humber, a pitcher that took a no-hitter into the seventh in his last start versus the Yankees. Roberts advanced to third on a flyout and scored on a wild pitch for a 1-0 lead.

In the the last of the fourth, with two on and none out, Andino made a diving stop on a Rios grounder up the middle to start a nifty 6-4-3 double play and help Tillman keep the Sox off the board.

The White Sox have lost their past five home games by a combined scored of 32-15. They have lost 13 of 16 overall.
