Well, Gonzalez pitched two innings tonight, and there’s good reason to be encouraged. He didn’t allow a baserunner and struck out four over two innings. And he threw only 26 pitches.

Update: Alex Rios homered off Koji Uehara in the ninth, but the Orioles defeated the White Sox, 6-2.

Down on the farm, Triple-A Norfolk lost to Louisville, 10-1, but there were some bright spots.

Ryan Adams went 3-for-5 to raise his average to .303. Brandon Snyder went 2-for-4 to raise his average to .302.

Josh Bell returned to the lineup as the designated hitter, going 0-for-5.

Rick VandenHurk took the loss after allowing six runs and six hits, with three walks, in four innings. His ERA is 7.03.

Left-hander Troy Patton relieved VandenHurk and allowed one run and three hits in three innings.

Joe Mahoney is 3-for-4 with a double for Double-A Bowie.

LJ Hoes hit his second home run for Single-A Frederick. Tyler Townsend is 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs, raising his average to .320.

Manny Machado hit his fourth home run tonight for Single-A Delmarva. He has two hits, three RBIs and two runs scored, and he’s batting .342.
