Luke Scott picked up his third RBI tonight with a two-out single in the seventh inning that scored Miguel Tejada and reduced Tampa Bays lead to 8-7.
Scott is running as if he dumped a box of thumb tacks in his shoes. He told me a few days ago that he would be smart and not risk reinjuring his hamstring.

Craig Tatum has three hits and one close call. He appeared to injure his right foot or ankle in the seventh after coming down hard on the bag on an infield hit. He grimaced as he continued up the line, but stayed in the game and scored on Miguel Tejada’s two-run double.
Rays manager Joe Maddon played the matchup game with Nick Markakis by bringing in left-hander Randy Choate – ignoring how Markakis owns the second-highest average against southpaws among left-handed batters. Maddon got it right. Markakis bounced to the mound.

Joe Mahoney has homered twice for Double-A Bowie. Carlos Rojas, Joel Guzman and Brandon Waring have each hit one.
Waring is playing the outfield for the first time, and he threw out a runner at second after retrieving the ball in the left field corner.
Steve Johnson held Binghamton to two unearned runs and four hits in six innings, and he struck out 10.
Brian Roberts is 3-for-5 with a double, RBI and run scored.
Tonight’s attendance: 16,623.
