Manager Buck Showalter told reporters in Oakland that reliever Jason Berken has a sore elbow and will be examined this weekend by Dr. Lewis Yocum.

Berken threw one-third of an inning on Wednesday. He’s 1-2 with a 5.80 ERA in 35 appearances.
Berken is expected to go on the disabled list to make room for left-hander Zach Britton, who will start Monday night in Minnesota.
