Chicago White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen won’t be in the dugout for the first two games of his team’s series against the Orioles, which begins tonight at U.S. Cellular Field.

Major League Baseball sent out a press release announcing that Guillen has been suspended two games and fined an undisclosed amount for “his actions on the field following the top of the first inning of his club’s game against the New York Yankees on Wednesday, April 27th at Yankee Stadium, and for his comments via Twitter following his ejection, which were in violation of Major League Baseball’s social media policy and other regulations regarding the use of electronic equipment during the course of a game.”
Yes, in 2011, managers might decide to tweet from their offices after being thrown out of a game.
The thought never occurred to Earl Weaver or Billy Martin, but Guillen was all over it.
Here’s one of Guillen’s tweets from Wednesday night: “This one going to cost me a lot money this is patetic”
Bench coach Joey Cora most likely will take over Guillen’s duties.
I can’t wait to check his Facebook status.
