Jeremy Guthrie seemed pretty despondent after tonight’s 8-4 loss. He didn’t have much to say. And really, what’s left to say when your team is 17 games below .500 and your own record is 3-13?
“I’m just not throwing the ball well,” he said. “I haven’t been going deep into games for a while.”

Guthrie was charged with six runs in five innings, raising his ERA to 4.45.
“I felt like I wasn’t able to throw the ball where I wanted to,” he said. “I wasn’t able to get ahead (much) in the count, or when I fell behind I had a really hard time throwing strikes and getting back into it.”
Guthrie served up two home runs in the first inning to give Cleveland a 3-0 lead.
“It’s tough to put your team in the hole like that,” he said.
Any positives from tonight’s game?
“Not many,” he replied, “so I’ll just try to erase it and build off something else.”
Asked how tough this stretch has been for the club, he said, “It’s tough like other stretches we’ve had. Each person needs to hopefully play better.”
