Let’s hear from winning pitcher Jeremy Guthrie:
“We came out swinging the bats real well, as we did all series. Just some big, big swings by D-Lee (Derrek Lee) and Mark (Reynolds), and then those extra runs we tagged on. We put pressure on their pitcher the majority of the afternoon. That was important for us.”

“I thought I was able to locate the fastball early, the first four innings especially. It had some life on it and I was able to go to both sides of the plate. We mixed in the slider and was able to keep it down for the most part. Ran some high counts and unfortunately I ran out of rope at the end of the game. But that last inning was frustrating. I thought I made a good pitch on (Chris) Heisey and he kind of flipped it into right field with two outs. Then I tried to be careful with (Brandon) Phillips and ended up walking him. That’s a frustrating way to end the outing, but overall i felt I was able to throw my pitches where I was trying to for the most part.”
“Winning three games in three months, it’s frustrating. I want to be better. I want to have better results. At times, momentum seems to swing against the Orioles, and so it’s nice to have held on and won this game. It’s important for the team. Obviously, it was a team effort all the way around – defensively, offensively especially and pitching when we needed it at the toughest moments.
