The injury occurred yesterday in the fourth inning when a 93 mph fastball from the Cardinals’ Lance Lynn slammed into Hardy’s wrist. Hardy came out of the game in the sixth.
Hardy sat at his locker this afternoon with a cast on his wrist, the tape covering his forearm.
“We did a CT scan today and it showed what they saw on the X-ray. It’s a small bone and non-displaced fracture,” Hardy said.
“I didn’t know it would be broken. It was definitely sore and it hurt, but I didn’t know it would be something broken.”
Hardy will be examined by a hand specialist on Tuesday.
The disappointment for Hardy was obvious as he addressed the media.
“I felt like I was making strides getting out of the funk I was in and than this happens, so very frustrating,” he said.
Hardy hadn’t suffered a broken bone until last season, when he fouled a ball of his left foot and missed seven weeks.
I’ll have more later today on Hardy’s injury and the Orioles’ contingency plans.
