The Orioles still get some respect around the league.
Shortstop J.J. Hardy was named the AL’s Player of the Week for the period ending on Sunday. It’s the first time in his career that he’s received the award.
Hardy is the first Orioles shortstop to be named Player of the Week since Miguel Tejada in 2006.
In seven games last week, Hardy batted .323 (10-for-31) with two doubles, four home runs, a league-leading 10 RBIs and six runs scored.
Hardy produced at least one RBI in eight…The Orioles still get some respect around the league.

Hardy produced at least one RBI in eight straight games, tied for the fourth-longest streak in franchise history. He’s also has three multi-homer games this season.
Hardy’s 23 homers this season lead all AL shortstops and are tied for the overall lead at the position with Colorado’s Troy Tulowitzki. He leads the league with 10 homers since the All-Star break.
NOTE: Sean Gleason, who had 32 saves at Single-A Frederick, has been promoted to Triple-A Norfolk.
