Luke Scott swung at the first pitch from reliever Brandon League with the bases loaded in the eighth and destroyed Seattle’s 5-2 lead.
Scott hit his second career grand slam, and the first by an Oriole since Michael Aubrey on Oct. 2.
If only he could have enjoyed the trip around the bases from the first few steps.
Scott pumped his fist in the air and shouted with joy as he rounded first, but Ty Wigginton began to wave him back to the bag, thinking the ball was still in play.
Left…Luke Scott swung at the first pitch from reliever Brandon League with the bases loaded in the eighth and destroyed Seattle’s 5-2 lead.

Left fielder Michael Saunders made a leaping attempt at the fence, but the ball appeared to deflect off a fan’s hands and settled in the seats.
The Mariners didn’t argue interference, so the fan must not have reached over the fence.
The runners had to pause a few seconds before receiving confirmation that Scott gave them the lead. The momentary look of confusion on Scott’s face was priceless.
Could this be one of Scott’s much-anticipated hot streaks? He doubled and homered last night and has hit safely in four straight games after going 1-for-19 with 10 strikeouts in his previous six.
Update: Need more drama? Corey Patterson cut down Josh Wilson at the plate on Ichiro Suzuki’s single to end the game and preserve a 6-5 victory. Matt Wieters stretched for the throw and made a great tag. Patterson simply lowered his head as if saying a quick prayer. That’s six outfield assists for the Orioles this season, all at home plate.
