Hernandez was up to 100 pitches. Jason Berken finally started to warm in the bullpen after the second walk.

Fans were booing as manager Dave Trembley stepped out of the dugout after Hernandez’s 105th pitch. It was a sloppy sequence -the walks, the wild pitch, the single and error – and it just added to the frustration of the night, and an entire season.

No. 9 hitter Michael Saunders greeted Berken with a run-scoring single. The mood around here hasn’t improved.

Hernandez is headed toward his 11th straight loss, which would leave him two short of Mike Boddicker’s club record. He’s charged with five runs (four earned) and five hits in 5 2/3 innings, with four walks, four strikeouts and two wild pitches.

Quite frankly, I’d be more entertained by a rain delay. But typical of my luck, the grounds crew has left the tarp. The storm missed us.
