Jeremiah Jackson is playing second base in a right-handed heavy lineup. Yohel Pozo is catching, his first start since Aug. 16.

Coby Mayo is batting third as the designated hitter. Leody Taveras is in right field. Colton Cowser is in center despite the left-on-left matchup.

Pete Alonso will try again to hit his 300th career home run.

Mayo has reached base in a career-best 18 straight games.

Orioles batters have double-digit strikeouts in each of the last five games and nine of 11.

Shane Baz will try to avoid a 16th loss as he makes his 30th start. He allowed five runs and six hits 5 2/3 innings against the Guardians in his last outing, but at least the offense showed up for him.

Baz tossed 6 2/3 scoreless innings with three hits allowed in his only career start against the Mets, and it happened at Citi Field.

Juan Soto is 3-for-5 with a double, home run and three walks against Baz. Bo Bichette is 1-for-9 with a home run.

Left-hander Josh Walker retired all five batters he faced last night and hasn’t allowed a run in his last 17 appearances. The last Oriole with 18 consecutive scoreless outings is Donnie Hart from July 17-Sept. 20, 2016.

Mets left-hander Sean Manaea has made three career starts against the Orioles and allowed 13 runs and 16 hits in 12 1/3 innings.

Alonso is 1-for-2 with a home run and two walks against Manaea.

The Orioles are sending eight players to the Peoria Javelinas of the Arizona Fall League, including 2024 first-round draft pick Vance Honeycut and 2025 first-rounder Ike Irish.

Also on the roster is infielder Brandon Butterworth, acquired from the Padres in the Ryan O’Hearn/Ramón Laureano trade with the Padres, and Patrick Reilly, Braxton Bragg, Kiefer Lord, Teddy Sharkey and Kailen Hamson.

Bragg missed the 2026 season while rehabbing from Tommy John surgery.

Triple-A Norfolk fundamentals coach Billy Facteau is bench coach.
