Reliever Stu Pomeranz injured his left oblique muscle while warming up yesterday and is expected to be placed on the DL. He stayed in Baltimore and underwent an MRI this morning.

The Orioles are short one position player after recalling Pomeranz, and they don’t figure to keep a three-man bench. Showalter checked the reports yesterday on Reynolds and outfielder Endy Chavez, who joined the Baysox on an injury-rehab assignment.

Chavez is starting in left field today at Bowie. Zelous Wheeler is starting at third. Reynolds’ name isn’t listed on the lineup card.

Reynolds, who also went on the DL with an oblique injury, is 1-for-7 with two walks, four strikeouts and one error in two games with Bowie. He hit a home run in an extended spring training game in Sarasota.

Reynolds is batting .191 with two homers, nine RBIs and a .661 OPS in 27 games with the Orioles. He’s committed six errors in 15 games at third base.

Update: The Orioles just announced that Pomeranz has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left oblique muscle, and Reynolds has been activated from the DL.
