For the second time in five weeks, Jackson produced a dominant performance vs. the Orioles as the Tigers topped the Birds 4-2 on Wednesday night.

Jackson took a two-hit shutout to the ninth, but hit Nolan Reimold leading off the inning and gave up a two-run homer to Adam Jones. He allowed just three hits, throwing 117 pitches. On May 31st in Baltimore, Jackson pitched eight scoreless innings of two-hit ball vs. the Birds.

Guthrie allowed six hits and three runs in 7 1/3 innings to fall to 7-11, 5.28. Two of his runs scored after he left the game.

Magglio Ordonez homered on a 1-0 Guthrie pitch in the last of the fifth for the game’s first run. It’s his 6th of the year. Placido Polanco’s bloop two-run single in the 8th gave Detroit a 3-0 lead and Miguel Cabrera’s RBI single made it a 4-0 lead.

The O’s have lost five of six and 12 of the last 16 games.

Detroit improves to 4-3 on the year vs. the Orioles and 33-17 in home games.
