Say it quietly, but the Orioles’ bullpen continues to throw well, at least it has for the last nine games.
The Orioles ‘pen put up four scoreless innings tonight in relief of starter Chris Jakubauskas who got the win in the Birds’ 4-0 victory over Oakland.
This was the O’s fourth shutout of the season.
But about that ‘pen … Over the last nine games now, the O’s ‘pen has worked to an ERA of 0.30 allowing just two earned runs over the last 30 innings in that time.

That is some roll for the much-maligned bullpen.
Meanwhile, Jakubauskas gave the O’s an excellent spot start tonight, allowing just three hits over five frames to get the win. Jakubauskas took a liner off his left foot in the fifth with two outs, but stayed in the game to get the inning’s final out.
Clay Rapada followed for two outs, then Jeremy Accardo went 2 1/3 and Koji Uehara pitched the ninth.
The Orioles got solo homers in the win from Luke Scott, Adam Jones and J.J. Hardy. Hardy, batting leadoff, led off the first with a homer on the second pitch he saw.
The Orioles are now 28-31 and have won three of the last four and they are 9-7 over the last 16 games.
