BOWIE – Jason GarcÃa has cleared waivers and been outrighted to Double-A Bowie, allowing the Orioles to keep him in the organization.
The Orioles designated GarcÃa, 24, for assignment on Thursday to make room for pitcher Damien Magnifico on the 40-man roster. Magnifico was optioned to Triple-A Norfolk and made his debut last night, allowing one run and two hits in one inning.
GarcÃa surrendered five runs (four earned) in 3 1/3 innings in his one appearance with Bowie before coming off the roster. He was backing up left-hander Tanner Scott, moved into the Baysox’s rotation, and could resume that role.

The former Rule 5 pick was 1-0 with a 4.25 ERA in 21 relief appearances with the Orioles in 2015, but he didn’t get into a major league game last summer and was 6-10 with a 4.73 ERA and 1.544 WHIP in 24 starts totaling 123 2/3 innings.
Reliever Parker Bridwell was designated for assignment on Friday to make room for left-hander Paul Fry on the 40-man roster. The Orioles could learn on Tuesday whether he cleared waivers.
Meanwhile, the tarp has been folded up at Prince George’s Stadium and the sun is peeking through the clouds. No more rain and no threat to Chris Tillman’s rehab start.
The Orioles want Tillman to work three innings and throw around 45 pitches.
Tillman hasn’t pitched here since making one appearance in 2012, when he allowed three runs in 3 1/3 innings. He went 11-4 with a 3.18 ERA in 28 starts in 2008, striking out 154 batters in 135 2/3 innings.
Center fielder Cedric Mullins was named the Eastern League’s Player of the Week for April 6-16 after batting 455 (20-for-44) with five doubles, a triple, three home runs, eight RBIs, 15 runs scored, three walks and three stolen bases. He posted an .818 slugging percentage in 10 games.
