The Orioles will place pitcher Ubaldo Jimenez on the 15-day disabled list with a right ankle injury and recall Kevin Gausman from Triple-A Norfolk.
Jimenez rolled his ankle Wednesday in a parking lot and it’s badly swollen today. He was scheduled to start Saturday afternoon against the Yankees, but Chris Tillman likely will take his turn. Gausman would pitch Sunday, the same day he was supposed to take the mound at Norfolk.
Gausman is flying into Baltimore tonight.

Gausman is flying into Baltimore tonight.
Jimenez rolled the same ankle in 2012, making him more vulnerable to the same injury.
“He’s pretty frustrated by this,” said manager Buck Showalter.
Jimenez took a light side session yesterday before being shut down. He’s eligible to return from the DL on the sixth day following the All-Star break.
Showalter said he considered giving a start to T.J. McFarland this weekend, but preferred to use the left-hander out of the bullpen against the Yankees.
Jimenez won’t be cleared for any physical activity for at least the next few days, as the team tries to eliminate the swelling in the ankle.
Signed to a four-year, $50 million contract during spring training, Jimenez is 3-8 with a 4.52 ERA in 18 starts and leads the majors with 60 walks in 99 2/3 innings.
