Reliever Jim Johnson tossed a scoreless seventh inning tonight at Double-A Bowie, striking out the last batter he faced.
Johnson retired the first batter on a fly ball to center and the second on a grounder to short. I’m told his fastball topped out at 94 mph according to the Prince George’s Stadium radar gun. He got the called third strike on a curveball.

Johnson has allowed four runs and 12 hits in 10 minor league innings on his injury rehab assignment, with one walk and eight strikeouts. Three of those runs came in the Gulf Coast League.
The plan calls for Johnson to pitch again tomorrow night, work out the next two days and again pitch in back-to-back games at Bowie.
Meanwhile, plate umpire Jeff Nelson’s strike zone has gotten so wide, it includes any pitch that bounces on the dugout roof.
Jake Arrieta is charged with two runs (one earned) and eight hits in 6 2/3 innings, with three walks and three strikeouts.
Rangers left-hander C.J. Wilson has struck out a career-high 11 batters.
Tonight’s attendance: 18,751.
