The publication chose sixty Marylanders for the impressive honor. Holliday and the other recipients will be formally feted at a ceremony on April 21st at the Grand Lodge in Cockeysville, Md.

Johnny Holliday is in his fourth year with MASN as the host of the Nationals’ network’s Nats…MASN broadcaster Johnny Holliday has been recognized by The Maryland Daily Record as an ‘Influential Marylander’ in the newspaper’s fourth annual list honoring local residents for accomplishments and service. The publication chose sixty Marylanders for the impressive honor. Holliday and the other recipients will be formally feted at a ceremony on April 21st at the Grand Lodge in Cockeysville, Md.

Johnny Holliday is in his fourth year with MASN as the host of the Nationals’ network’s Nats Xtra pre and post game show, and fills in as play-by-play voice during Nationals broadcasts. He also maintains a blog at MASNsports.com.

Holliday has been the “Voice of the Terps” for 31 years, calling play-by-play for University of Maryland football and basketball games. His tenure with Maryland includes ten bowl games, ten sweet sixteen appearances, two final four games a national championship.

A versatile talent, Holliday has covered the Winter and Summer Olympics, championship boxing, the USFL with Hall of Famer Paul Hornung, The Masters, the Liberty and Aloha Bowls, the Washington Senators, the San Francisco Giants, the Baltimore Orioles, George Washington University basketball, Navy football, ACC Women’s basketball and national gymnastics events. He also served as a public address announcer for the Cleveland Browns, Oakland Raiders, San Francisco Warriors and Washington Bullets.

“It is an honor to be included among such a distinguished group of Marylanders who are dedicated to making our great state a better place to live and work,” Holliday said.

Last October, Holliday was inducted into the University of Maryland Athletic Hall of Fame and he has also been inducted into the Baltimore Sports Media Hall of Fame.

His impact and excellence in sports media has earned him awards from the Touchdown Club of Washington, the All American Football Foundation, the National Football Foundation, and the College Football Hall of fame. He was inducted into the Radio Television Broadcasters Hall of Fame in 2003.

Dedicated to giving back, Holliday is an active supporter of Catholic Charities and the Special Olympics. Each year, he hosts his own celebrity golf tournament which benefits the Youth Leadership Foundation and funds a scholarship to the University of Maryland. He serves on the Board of Directors of Victory Youth Centers and Children’s Charities Foundation and has served as television host for Muscular Dystrophy, Leukemia, Cerebral Palsy, Children’s Hospital, March of Dimes and Easter Seals telethons.

Widely recognized for his contributions to the community, Holliday has been honored with dozens of awards, both regionally and nationally including the University of Maryland’s Distinguished Citizen award, Washingtonian magazine’s “Washingtonian of the Year,” the Catholic Youth Organization’s “National Person of the Year,” the Diabetes Association’s “Father of the Year,” and the “Smile” award from Operation Smile.
