It’s been that kind of stretch for the Orioles, who can’t keep anyone healthy or leave their roster untouched.

Jones reportedly will get an MRI on the wrist tomorrow in Tampa before joining the Orioles in Boston for a three-game series that starts Tuesday night.

Manager Buck Showalter said that Jones aggravated the wrist while sliding during today’s game. Jones told reporters that the wrist has…TAMPA – Adam Jones got hit on the left wrist Wednesday in Toronto, but his right wrist is sore.

Manager Buck Showalter said that Jones aggravated the wrist while sliding during today’s game. Jones told reporters that the wrist has bothered him for several weeks.

Jones beat out an infield hit in the third inning today, but he slid awkwardly before jumping back to his feet.

Nick Johnson pinch hit for Jones with two runners on base and one out in the ninth inning. Jones keeps downplaying the degree of soreness in the wrist, but Showalter said he wasn’t taking any chances.

The mere fact that Jones mentioned it at all served as a warning sign for Showalter.

Jones, who recently signed a six-year, $85.5 million contract, is hitting .315 with 16 homers and 34 RBIs.

The Orioles already lost left fielder Nolan Reimold and right fielder Nick Markakis, who are on the disabled list. They acquired Steve Pearce from the Yankees yesterday and put him in right field today.

They’d like to keep their center fielder on the active roster. They’ll know tomorrow whether that’s possible.

Updated: In a tweet this morning from Florida, Jones indicated he’s OK and will fly to Boston to meet the Orioles.

“Thanks for all the concern but I’m All good. On the way to BeanTown,” Jones tweeted.

The MRI was negative and Jones is expected to play Tuesday when the Orioles open a three-game series in Boston.

Update II: The MRIs in both of Jones’ hands and wrists showed contusions and he’s been deemed OK to play.
