Adam Jones hit another homer for the Orioles tonight. His solo shot in the last of the fourth cut the Los Angeles lead to 2-1. It was his 17th of the year and maybe the one that traveled the shortest distance.
Jones crushed a liner down the left-field line that just made it into the stands, 338 feet from home plate.
He likes to homer at home and now has hit 14 of his 17 on the season at Camden Yards, where Jones has an OPS of .903 compared to .666 on the road.

By month, Jones hit five homers in April, just one in May, seven in June and this was No. 4 in July.
He led off the last of the fourth with tonight’s homer, the fifth time he has led an inning with a longball. It was, of course, a solo shot, and 12 of his 17 on the year have been solo shots.
He has hit 14 of his 17 homers against right-handed pitchers.
Jones, at bats per homer by year:
2009: One every 24.9 at bats.
2010: One every 30.6 at bats.
2011: One every 21.7 at bats.
His career high is 19 homers, which he has hit each of the last two years.
