Adam Jones was in no mood to brag about his great catch against Seattle on Wednesday earlier today in the Orioles’ clubhouse.
He was asked what it was like to get national attention over the play where he ran back to the warning track and made a basket catch with his back to the infield to rob Miguel Olivo of extra bases. It was the Play of the Night on ESPN’s “SportsCenter” and a top web gem on “Baseball Tonight.”

“I don’t care. It’s a great catch, but that was Wednesday and today is Friday, a new day. It’s over with to me,” he said.
Jones said he never lost track of the flight of the ball even as he got closer and closer to the center field wall in Safeco Field. He also was not getting caught up in any talk about comparing the play to the one Willie Mays made in the 1954 World Series.
“I saw myself catch it,” Jones said. “I saw the replay. Nice play. I caught the ball for Matusz, it was out number one. It was a nice catch, but I’m moving on. If I get an ESPY for it, we’ll talk about it.”
Jones also said his right shoulder is doing fine. He didn’t start Monday’s game at Seattle due to shoulder soreness. He said he is not limited by the shoulder at all right now.
