Orioles center fielder Adam Jones is one of the most active athletes on Twitter, building a following of 128,881 at last count. He talks baseball, food, pets and anything else that’s on his mind. But he may become the latest Oriole to give it up.
Earlier tonight, Jones claimed that a fan at AT&T Park in San Francisco threw a banana in his direction in the ninth inning of the Orioles’ 10-2 victory over the Giants.

Earlier tonight, Jones claimed that a fan at AT&T Park in San Francisco threw a banana in his direction in the ninth inning of the Orioles’ 10-2 victory over the Giants.
“I want to thank whatever (expletive) threw that banana towards my direction in CF in the last inning. Way to show ur class u (expletive),” he wrote via @SimplyAJ10.
Jones drove in four runs today – three coming on his 24th home run – to give him a career-high 85 RBIs this season.
Later, Jones tweeted, “I love how some ppl are defending the actions by someone today. Shows how u really are also. All good wit me. I just #StayHungry”
Then, he added, “Good chance this means I get off social media soon”
Jones’ first tweet has already been retweeted 1,771 times and favorited 932 times.
First baseman Chris Davis recently stopped tweeting after growing tired of defending himself over accusations that he’s used PEDs.
