Outfielder Kipp Schutz, who has put up amazing numbers this year for the Single-A Delmarva Shorebirds, is moving to the Single-A Frederick Keys today and should join the team in time to be in the lineup tonight at Wilmington.
The 23-year-old Schutz, a 19th-round pick in the 2009 draft, was batting a robust .381 for the Shorebirds with 13 doubles, two triples, four homers and 36 RBIs in 38 games. Schutz leads all Orioles minor leaguers in batting average and RBIs.

He has an OPS of .997 and a batting average of .469 with runners in scoring position. Now Schutz and his hot bat get challenged at a higher level in the Carolina League. Kieron Pope will come off the disabled list to take Schutz’s roster spot with Delmarva.
Meanwhile, right-handed pitcher Randy Henry, the Orioles’ fourth-round pick from 2009, will join Delmarva and pitch out of the Shorebirds’ bullpen. Henry has been at extended spring training.
Manny Machado, the Orioles’ first-round pick last June who has been out since May 5 with a left knee injury, will test that knee in running drills this week at the Orioles’ spring training facility in Sarasota, Fla. If he handles those drills fine, he could return to Delmarva’s active roster next week.
