Double-A Bowie reliever Double-A Bowie reliever Dan Klein is going on the seven-day disabled list with tendinitis in his right shoulder.
Klein, a third-round pick last year out of UCLA, was supposed to throw three innings today, but he couldn’t pitch because of the discomfort in his shoulder.
Team orthopedist Dr. John Wilckens examined Klein today, and the decision was made to put him on the disabled list.
Klein began the year at Single-A Frederick, and the Orioles were hoping to promote him to Triple-A Norfolk later this summer.
The righty is 3-0 with a 1.08 ERA in nine games (16 2/3 innings) since his promotion to Bowie. Overall this season, Klein has a 1.11 ERA over 32 1/3 innings.
