We don’t need an interpreter for this one.
Coming off his second blown save against the Yankees, which left him unable to stand, Koji Uehara struck out the side in the top of the 10th inning.
It wasn’t a save situation, but he had to feel some pressure in a tie game, and following the steady diet of fastballs he fed Alex Rodriguez that ended with a three-run homer.

Uehara kept feeding the Yankees splitters today, and he struck out Nick Swisher, Jorge Posada and Curtis Granderson. A much better plan, and much better results.
On another note, according to baseball-reference.com, the last time a cleanup hitter had a two-out bunt single with a runner in scoring position was 1999. It happened twice, with Milwaukee’s Dave Nilsson on Aug. 8 and Kansas City’s Jermaine Dye on Oct. 1.
Make room for Adam Jones to the list.
Update: Michael Gonzalez replaced Uehara in the 11th and walked pinch-hitter Alex Rodriguez. His wild throw to first on an attempted pickoff moved pinch-runner Eduardo Nunez to third base. Pinch-hitter Marcus Thames struck out, and pinch-hitter Mark Teixeira and Derek Jeter were walked intentionally to load the bases.
I would have challenged Jeter and hoped for the double play. Not real comfortable loading the bases and leaving Gonzalez with no margin for error against Lance Berkman.
Yes, that’s my second-guess of the day. I called it before Berkman stepped to the plate.
Of course, Berkman bounced into a 5-4-3 double play.
