OAKLAND, Calif. – Adam Jones has reached another milestone with the Orioles.

Assuming that he’s in tonight’s lineup for the start of a three-game series, Jones will play in his 1,500th game since coming to the Orioles in a February 2008 trade with the Mariners.

Jones will be the eighth player in club history to reach the mark, joining Cal Ripken, Jr. (3,001 games), Brooks Robinson (2,896), Mark Belanger (1,962), Eddie Murray (1,884), Boog Powell (1,763), Brady Anderson (1,759) and Paul Blair (1,700). Ripken, Robinson and Murray are in the Hall of Fame.

According to STATS, Jones will become the seventh active player to appear in 1,500 games with his current team. The list also includes the Cardinals’ Yadier Molina (1,775), the Twins’ Joe Mauer (1,757), the Mets’ David Wright (1,583), the Nationals’ Ryan Zimmerman (1,582), the Tigers’ Miguel Cabrera (1,532) and the Red Sox’s Dustin Pedroia (1,503).

manny-machado-adam-jones-gray-sidebar.pngTonight’s game also could give Jones a chance to get on a roll. He’s batting .231/.239/.385 with eight doubles, four home runs and 16 RBIs. He’s collected only two hits in his last 25 at-bats since going 3-for-5 on April 26.

Jones delivered a game-tying single in the ninth inning Tuesday night in Anaheim, but the Orioles lost on Justin Upton’s walk-off single.

Jones’ 251 home runs as a center fielder rank 13th all-time, according to the Elias Sports Bureau, and fifth in the American League behind Mickey Mantle (432), Ken Griffey Jr. (382), Fred Lynn (266) and Bernie Williams (261).

Willie Mays is the all-time leader with 640.

* Left-hander Chris Lee is starting tonight for Triple-A Norfolk in its game against Louisville at Harbor Park.

Lee is making his season debut after recovering from an oblique injury suffered in spring training. He faced only one batter and came out of the game.

* The Orioles have named Norfolk catcher Andrew Susac and Single-A Delmarva outfielder Zach Jarrett Minor League co-Players of the Month for April.

Susac, on the disabled list with an ankle injury, batted .359/.479/.615 with four doubles, two home runs and 12 RBIs in 11 games. Jarrett, a 28th-round pick in the 2017 amateur draft and the son of NASCAR champion Dale Jarrett, batted .333/.400/.663 in 21 games with five doubles, a league-leading seven home runs, 14 RBIs and 18 runs scored. He finished the month on a seven-game hitting streak and 15-game on-base streak.

Shorebirds left-hander Zac Lowther, 22, was chosen Pitcher of the Month after going 2-1 with a 1.23 ERA over four starts. In 22 innings, he struck out a league-leading 39 batters and walked only three.

Lowther, the 74th-overall pick last year, also leads the South Atlantic League in WHIP (0.55) and batting average against (.120).
