The first loud ovation during pre-game introductions was reserved for young pitcher Brian Matusz as he jogged down the orange carpet. He’s already a fan favorite after nine major league starts.

You want loud? Just call out Brooks Robinson’s name and bring him out of the dugout.
Miguel Tejada caught the ceremonial first pitch from Brooks. Garrett Atkins set the target for Boog Powell.

Always nice to be reminded of better times.
Speaking of Tejada, we heard some booing as he was introduced. It didn’t drown out the cheers, but it was noticeable.
The lineup cards are being exchanged at home plate. Atkins and Cesar Izturis are playing catch in front of the dugout. So are Tejada and Adam Jones. Roberts and Nick Markakis just joined them.
Maybe it’s just me, but the home whites always look a little brighter on Opening Day, even with three games already in the books.
