SARASOTA, Fla. – Matt Lindstrom just returned to the Ed Smith Stadium complex after starting a 10 a.m. game against the Orioles’ Triple-A team at Twin Lakes Park.
Lindstrom faced four batters and struck out two of them, including third baseman Josh Bell on a backdoor slider after getting ahead in the count with his splitter. He also induced a ground ball and a fly ball.

Lindstrom said he used all of his pitches and didn’t feel any discomfort in his right leg.
“I think that’s a good indication of me being ready for the season,” he said. “They told me at 9 a.m. that I’d be pitching at 10, and I didn’t have a lot of time to get ready.
“It was a good test. I didn’t feel it pushing off or anything.”
Meanwhile, left-hander Brian Matusz will start for the Orioles and go five innings in Wednesday’s exhibition game against Triple-A Norfolk at Twin Lakes Park. He’ll be working on normal rest.
