Manny Machado has returned to the Orioles lineup tonight after an illness kept him in the dugout last night.

Chris Davis isn’t starting against Red Sox left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez. He’s 5-for-27 (.185) with one home run and 14 strikeouts against the former Orioles farmhand. Machado is 6-for-31 (.194) with two doubles.

Joey Rickard is leading off and playing left field while Trey Mancini handles first base. Austin Wynns is behind the plate.

Rodriguez is 7-1 with a 3.68 ERA and 1.197 WHIP in 12 starts. He’s struck out 77 batters in 66 innings.

Though Rodriguez hasn’t completed the sixth inning in five of his last six starts, he’s gone 4-1 in that stretch. Left-handers are hitting .146 against him this season and right-handers are hitting .244.

Rodriguez is 5-5 with a 3.97 ERA and 1.249 WHIP in 12 career starts against the Orioles and 3-2 with a 2.75 ERA and 1.042 WHIP in seven starts at Camden Yards.
