Update 2:With one out in the bottom of the fifth, Machado lined the first pitch he saw to the left fielder. He’s now 1-3.
In a move that was expected Michael Rooney replaced Machado at short.
Mychal Givens is now 1-3 and Conner Narron is 0-1 and was hit by a pitch.
Vermont is beating Aberdeen 10-2 in the fifth.

Vermont is ahead 3-2 over Aberdeen.

Playing in front of a crowd that includes Orioles manager Buck Showalter and Hall of Famer Cal Ripken Jr., Manny Machado was retired on a soft liner to second base tonight in his first at-bat at Aberdeen.
He came up with Mychal Givens on first and one out in the last of the first. Givens led off the inning with a single.
Aberdeen leads Vermont 2-1 in the second inning.
