MASN, the region's leader in live sports entertainment, will broadcast more than 160 men's and women's Division I college basketball games during the 2014-15 season, offering its viewers a lineup featuring local rivalries, Top 25 teams and tournament action. The regional sports network's hoops schedule will air on both MASN and MASN2, and features games from 13 men's conferences and some of the top women's programs in the nation, as well as action from the BB&T Classic in December.
Basketball action on MASN tips off on Friday, Nov. 14, when New Jersey Institute of Technology visits St. John's at 7 p.m. on MASN 2. The same evening, Florida Atlantic plays at Elon at 8 p.m. on MASN.
For the eighth consecutive year, MASN will televise action from the BB&T Classic, an annual showcase of local college basketball talent held at Verizon Center in Washington, D.C. This year's 20th annual BB&T Classic broadcast will air on Sunday, Dec. 7 and features the game between George Washington and UNC-Charlotte at 2:30 p.m. on MASN.
MASN enters its ninth season as the official cable television network of the George Mason University Patriots and will televise four games for the Atlantic 10 contender, beginning with a Jan. 14 contest at St. Bonaventure.
Perennial Big East contender Georgetown will play in two games broadcast on MASN: against St. Francis Brooklyn on Nov. 15 and versus Charleston Southern on Dec. 20. Other regional favorites that will play on MASN include Liberty, UMBC, Loyola, Mount St. Mary's, American and Old Dominion.
"MASN's extensive college basketball schedule will allow fans to check out some of the best men's and women's hoops action, including coverage of some heated local rivalries," said Jim Cuddihy, MASN's executive vice president for marketing, programming and affiliate relations. "With a schedule stretching from November through March, MASN is clearly the destination for fans trying to handicap the field for the NCAA tournaments throughout the season."
In total, 13 men's conferences will be represented on MASN, including the Atlantic 10, Big 12, Big East, Big South, Conference USA, Horizon League, Ivy League, Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, Ohio Valley Conference, Patriot League, Southern Conference and Western Athletic Conference.
In addition, MASN will air action from the Orange Bowl Classic and Madison Square Garden Holiday Festival in December.
Twenty Division I women's games from the Big 12 and Conference USA appear on the MASN schedule, including appearances by five teams ranked in the AP preseason top 25: No. 5 Texas A&M, No. 8 Baylor, No. 9 Texas, No. 17 West Virginia and No. 21 Oklahoma State. MASN's coverage of women's basketball concludes with three games from the Big 12 Tournament in March.
MASN will also carry college magazine and coaches' shows, including "Inside Basketball With Duke's Coach K," "Inside N.C. State Basketball With Mark Gottfried," "Inside East Carolina Basketball With Jeff Lebo," "Inside Rutgers Basketball," "Inside Villanova" and "UNC Basketball with Roy Williams."
