MASN Wins Four More Emmy Awards
MASN, the local leader in live sports entertainment, won four Emmy Awards on June 5th at the 52nd annual Emmy Awards Dinner in Washington D.C. The ceremony honors excellence in television advertising concepts in the National Capital/Chesapeake Bay chapter.
MASN's creative 'Defining Moments' campaign was recognized for achievements in Promotion/Program/ Sports and Promotion/Program/Campaign. The Defining Moments series featured real fans talking about important Nationals and Orioles franchise moments. Among those spots recognized were Luke Scott Slides Home, Lastings Milledge Haiku, Elijah Dukes' Walk-off Walk and Willie Harris' catches.
MASN took home an additional Emmy for Editing, Short Form of 'MASN's HD Every Day' television spots.
In its second successful year, the "Defining Moments" campaign is built around the critical points in every game that may change the outcome, seal the game, or create a memory that lasts a lifetime. The spots are effective because they are so authentic; the scripts are submitted by real fans and the spots feature real fans.
MASN's award-winning 'Defining Moments' campaign was developed and written by creative consultant Dick Goggin. Jim Lansbury and RP3 advertising in Bethesda assisted with conception, development and execution, while Shooters Post and Transfer in Philadelphia handled graphic design and post-production.
"We wanted to get real fans involved in the process -- sharing their own stories and displaying a genuine passion for the game," Goggin said. "The thing is everybody's got their defining moment, but I think the bottom line is as Orioles fans or as Nationals fans, we're all in this together. We're all brought together by these moments."
The National Capital Chesapeake Bay Area Chapter of the Emmy Awards encompasses five DMAs, including Baltimore, Washington, Norfolk, Roanoke and Richmond.
"Not only does MASN produce an award-winning telecast night after night, but the network continues to be a leader in promotional and creative excellence as well," said MASN spokesman Todd Webster. "In a very competitive marketing environment, MASN continues to set the standard for creative excellence."
Including the four 2010 Emmys, the network has won 31 awards for creative and promotional excellence since 2008, including 24 Addy Awards, six Emmys and the American Marketing Association's prestigious Award of Excellence.
