There was early talk of Matusz throwing a bullpen session this week for pitching coach Mark Connor and bullpen coach Rick Adair, but he hasn’t advanced enough to schedule one.
Showalter wouldn’t commit to a date or speculate whether Matusz might remain at the minor league complex throughout the Orioles’ homestand that begins tomorrow against the Minnesota Twins.
Showalter also said that shortstop J.J. Hardy is feeling better. Hardy is on the disabled list with a strained left oblique muscle.
The early projection had Hardy missing two-to-three weeks.
Also, Adam Jones is fine physically. Showalter wanted to give Felix Pie some at-bats and prevent him from becoming “stagnant.”
