Mayo returns to Orioles lineup tonight

Austin Slater is leading off and playing left field tonight and Coby Mayo is at third base against a left-handed opposing starter.
Eloy Jiménez is the designated hitter. Colton Cowser is in center field.
Jackson Holliday stays at second base and is batting ninth.
Dean Kremer has made two career starts against the Nationals and is 2-0 with a 2.31 ERA in 11 2/3 innings.
Kremer has held opponents to a .523 OPS his first time through the order, compared to .817 for the rest of the game.
Adley Rutschman is 11-for-29 in his last nine games after going 4-for-36 in the previous 10.
The Orioles are 21-25 since June 20 and trail the Yankees by a half-game in the division. They’re 19-35 when opponents score first.
Left-hander DJ Herz, the Cubs’ eighth-round draft pick in 2019, has made 11 starts in his rookie season and posted a 4.41 ERA and 1.347 WHIP with 63 strikeouts in 49 innings. Left-handed hitters are batting .304/.373/.478 and right-handers are batting .233/.299/.433.
Herz made his first major league start on June 4 and he’s competed six innings only once, shutting out the Marlins on one hit with no walks and 13 strikeouts on June 15. He lasted 2 2/3 Thursday against the Giants, allowing two runs and four hits with four walks.
