“He’s not 100 percent right now. He’s not,” manager Dave Trembley said. “Night before last, running through the base and making the turn, he tweaked it. (T-Bone) Shelby alerted us that he probably should come out of the game, and Tejada yelled over, ‘I’m not coming out.’

You’ll recall that Tejada first suffered the injury in Oakland.

“When he was in Oakland and just before he got hurt, he came up to me and said, ‘I feel like I’m getting hot. I feel like I’m going to start hitting and carrying the club’ Then he did one of the most unselfish things I’ve ever seen; he bunted for a hit and then he got hurt, and he had to take some time off,” Trembley said.

The Orioles are glad he’s in the lineup. He makes a difference.

Trembley also talked about Matt Albers, who picked up his first win in four decisions with another scoreless inning.

“He wants the ball and he threw a sinker tonight, with the exception of the 3-1 pitch to (Darnell) McDonald that was foul,” Trembley said. “He had movement. I think he’s laid off, for the most part, being a 50-50 guy with his breaking ball. He’s throwing more sinkers, relying on his fastball more. And his command has been better. A lot less three-ball counts, a lot more strike ones.”

Adam Jones had three hits and scored the winning run. His average is up to .223.

“The approach that he’s taking is he’s trying to be patient enough to hit the ball the middle and other side,” Trembley said. “That’s the approach he’s trying to get himself back into. There are some swings that that’s what you see. I still think he could be a little more patient. He’s getting ahead in the count and then he’s getting a heavy dose of breaking pitches. But he is working at it.”
