Burrell doubled to lead off the inning, but Millwood struck out Sean Rodriguez on a slider and retired Dioner Navarro on a fly ball to left. It appeared that he would escape another jam, but Bartlett ended that idea.
Millwood has allowed one run and six hits, with one walk and four strikeouts. The walk followed Bartlett’s RBI single.
Matt Albers began to warm with two outs in the fifth, but Ben Zobrist flied to left on Millwood’s 92nd pitch.
It’s difficult to see the bullpen with all the smoke that still hangs heavy in the air. Are we sure this roof doesn’t open?
Update: Matt Wieters has turned in three quality at-bats. He’s also accounted for the Orioles’ third home run of the night, leading off the sixth with a shot to right field. Orioles 3, Rays 1.
The next batter, Felix Pie, appeared to tweak his bat while swinging through a pitch. He’s still at the plate, but you could tell that he was uncomfortable by the way he moved out of the box with a crooked posture and a grimace on his face.
